A Comparison of Numerical Methods Used to Solve Cross Flow Model for Multicomponent Membrane Gas Separation
نویسندگان
چکیده
A comparison between different numerical methods which are used to solve cross flow model in multicomponent membrane gas separation is studied. Considering cross flow model, numerical methods such as Bogacki-Shampine method, Dormand-Prince method, Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method, numerical differentiation formulas, modified Rosenbrock formula of order 2, Trapezoidal rule with free interpolant and Trapezoidal rule with backward difference formula of order 2 are observed. To solve cross flow model stiff and non-stiff numerical methods are implemented and the characteristics of each method are discussed briefly. The stability and computational speed of considered numerical methods are investigated for the selection of best numerical method. The results obtained from recommended numerical method are compared with experimental and numerical results available in literature. The numerical results show good agreement with literature values.

Unsteady flow separation on the airfoils with local flexible membrane (LFM) has been investigated in transient and laminar flows by the finite volume element method. A unique feature of the present method compared with the common computational fluid dynamic softwares, especially ANSYS CFX, is the modification using the physical influence scheme in convection fluxes at cell surfaces. In contr...
